Submission Guidelines

The Bark is looking for talented writers to contribute articles to our indispensable guide to life with dogs. We tap into the exploding phenomena of dog culture and lifestyle, focusing on the growing bond between individuals and their pet companions. Before you submit, please ensure your story is right for us—we hope that you become familiar with our site and the sort of content we post. The Bark is no longer accepting unsolicited submissions and queries for the print magazine but we are accepting web only submissions.

Web Only Submissions

We invite you to submit material for web-only publication. You will only be notified if your work is selected for publication. In submitting material, you warrant that you have the right to do so and that your work does not infringe on the copyright or rights of privacy of others; you also agree that we may post and maintain the article on our site as well as allow reposting on sites with which we have established relationships. You retain copyright but grant us exclusive online rights for a period of time to be determined at the time of acceptance.

Please email your work to and include YOUR LAST NAME and WEB ORIGINALS SUBMISSION in the subject line. You must submit a short cover letter stating your writing experience, complete with a short bio. Submissions will not be considered without this information.

We always are interested in hearing from you if you have any story ideas, or would like to see a coverage of an issue that you might think our readers would enjoy.
